Accommodation Manager
University of Maryland Global Campus (UMGC) seeks an Accommodation Manager. The Accommodation Manager's primary responsibility is to build relationships with students with disabilities who will work with Accessibility Services throughout their time at UMGC. This individual is responsible for conducting intake discussions with students to identify appropriate academic accommodations, evaluating disability documentation to determine program eligibility, working closely with UMGC's Academic Schools, and ensuring that appropriate accommodations are in place. The Manager works with a growing population of students with a variety of disabilities and will manage a large caseload.
Primary Duties
- Primary POC for the Student Accommodation Process
- Review and interpret student confidential medical and psychological evaluations to determine eligibility for services and appropriate accommodations; develop, monitor, adjust and evaluate individual accommodation plans for students.
- Identify inaccessible classroom content, find viable options for students, and delegate remediation efforts.
- Provide continuous support for students once they have registered with Accessibility Services and delegate outreach efforts as appropriate
- In support of the Director, provide consultation to faculty, help raise awareness of Accessibility services throughout the University by developing, coordinating, and implementing faculty/staff workshops and seminars on assisting students with disabilities.
- Maintain confidential records and correspondence while tracking and compiling usage information; synthesize, analyze, compile, and interpret department statistics, retention, and diagnostic reports.
- Select one area of specialization to focus on and support growth in the department (e.g., mental health and wellness efforts, database improvement, assistive technology, etc.).
Required Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in any field from a U.S. regionally accredited institution. Equivalent Experience - 1 to 3 years interviewing and questioning clients to gather information, and 1 to 3 years collaborating with university faculty members to ensure that students are afforded approved accommodations.
Preferred Qualifications
Three years of experience in disabilities services, social work, counseling, or related field. Experience working with an accommodation management system (e.g., Accommodate, SAM, AIM).
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Understanding of disability laws (Sec. 504, ADA, ADAAA) and appropriate services/accommodations for students with disabilities at the post-secondary level. Strong and effective communication skills. All submissions should include a cover letter and resume.
