Accommodations Specialist
Job Description
The part-time Accommodations Specialist is responsible for performing a variety of tasks to support daily operations in the Student Resource Center for ADA Services. Their duties may include greeting office visitors, scheduling appointments, proctoring tests, reading or scribing for students during a test, enlarging textbooks, working with and teaching others various types of assistive technology. Reports to the Director, Student Resource Center for ADA Services.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Welcomes visitors to the office.
- Ensures that scanned documents meet standards for legibility and file quality.
- Ensures all education-related documents are handled in compliance with federal regulations, including the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and other applicable privacy laws.
- Provides excellent customer service to students, staff, and visitors.
- Operates office equipment such as computers, scanners, and photocopying machines.
- Print and enlarge textbooks as needed for accommodations.
- Learn, use, and teach various assistive technologies.
- Proctor, read, or scribe for tests as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Essential Functions:
- Operate office equipment such as a desktop computer, fax/copier machine, printers, and calculators.
- Use word processing software to create correspondence.
- Use templates.
- Ability to work effectively in a diverse community and meet the needs of diverse student populations.
- Ability to sit at a desk and view a display screen for extended periods of time.
- Ability to demonstrate professional and discretionary communication skills via electronic, verbal, written, and face-to-face interactions.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and student needs.
- Ability to keep information confidential.
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma/GED and experience with MS Office. Successful results of a criminal background check are required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Strong technical skills and experience with a variety of diverse populations including people with disabilities.
Hourly Rate:
$14.00 (20 hours per week)
