Overview
The College of Architecture, Design and Construction (CADC) at Auburn University, a comprehensive land-grant and research institution, invites applications of the position of Accountant II/III. This position is part of CADC's Research Support Team. The candidate will coordinate post-award accounting, work closely with faculty and staff across the college and three schools, and act as a liaison with central financial units.
About the CADC:
The CADC is comprised of three schools: the School of Architecture, planning and Landscape Architecture, the McWhorter School of Building Science, and the School of Industrial Graphic Design. These academic units offer undergraduate and graduate degree programs that are consistently recognized nationally and internationally for their academic excellence and innovations in the fields of design, construction, and related education. The CADC Research Office provides support to faculty in all aspects of research- and creative scholarship -related activities and interests. This includes the identification, planning, budgeting, writing and submission of extramural and intramural grant proposals, and the post-award management of grants.
Responsibilities
- Assists with the acquisition, management, and reporting for sponsor funded equipment and materials while maintaining records and titles.
- Assists in the administrative management of awards by approving and coordinating change orders, time extensions, budget reallocations, and monitoring reporting from inception to close-out.
- Processes and approves contract and grant related documents such as (but not limited to) subcontract invoices for payment to ensure the correct accounting and contractual elements are in place.
- Trains employees and/or conducts conferences/workshops on topics such as electronic research administration, internal processes and procedures, agency requirements and award management.
- Prepares and reviews expense vouchers, invoices, purchase requisitions or other transactions for sponsored projects in CADC, in compliance with approved budgets and University/departments procedures.
- Determines proper handling of financial transactions in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and approves within designated limits, policies or contracts.
- Prepares budget reports, department allocation reports, inventory reports or other specialized reports or analysis on a regular or ad hoc basis.
- Corresponds with Procurement, Contracts and Grants Accounting, Budget Services or other departments concerning accounting and financial information.
- Reviews, investigates and corrects errors in financial entries, documents and reports.
- May perform duties related to payroll, personnel actions or similar procedures.
- Assists faculty with preparation and financial analysis related to contract or grant proposals.
Qualifications
Level II:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a Degree plus a CPA with 2 years of experience in accounting services.
Typical salaries will fall between $58,860 - $68,670
Full salary range is $49,050 - $78,480
Level III:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a Degree plus a CPA with 4 years of experience in accounting services.
Typical salaries will fall between $65,530 - $77,930
Full salary range is $53,140 - $90,330
Substitutions Allowed for Experience:
Graduate degrees may be used in lieu of experience
