POSITION: Accountant
SALARY: Salary $46,921. Excellent benefits package. Application review begins immediately.
Responsibilities:
Be the first point of contact for students and families in Student Accounts, providing effective customer service and a student-focused approach. Answer questions regarding student bills, payment plans, and assist with all student account processes. Serve as backup for the review and audit of student account set-up and transactions for accuracy and compliance with college, system, state, and federal regulations. Will be responsible for the recording of revenue received by the College from all sources. Prepare monthly bank reconciliations, post daily deposit clearing entry and approve deposits in the state accounting system, and other various financial reconciliations as determined by the Director. Assist the Director with gathering, assembling, and analyzing data and transactions and preparing various reports, and perform testing in college systems. Post and reverse charges and payments as needed and assign/remove holds and service indicators. Will work with the Director to develop, implement, and revise policies and procedures to ensure compliance with federal and state laws, regulations, and college policies related to accounts receivable and collections. This position is non-exempt with regard to FLSA.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in accounting/related field; or an associate's degree in accounting/related field plus three years of related experience is required. Two years prior experience in a busiess office or with student accounts and knowledge of college policies and business office policies is preferred. The successful candidate will have effective verbal and written communication skills and as well as the ability to process confidential and sensitive student record information with discretion and professionalism. In addition, the successful candidate should have the ability to work effectively with the public, students and colleagues, both external and internal.
This position is subject to veteran's preference. This position is covered by the NSCPA bargaining unit.
Offers of employment will be conditional upon satisfactory results of a criminal background check including credit check. Current valid driver's license is required.
