Maintains a positive attitude with students, faculty, staff,
and coworkers.
Communicates concerns to management and follow-up on customer
issues.
Performs cashiering activities such as completing check, cash,
credit card transactions, issuing receipts, and balancing registers
and receipts.
Ensures proper handling and safeguards in processing customer
transactions. Examines currency and checks to detect
counterfeiting, forgery or damaged money.
Prepares currency for bank deposits or transfers such as
endorsing checks, tallying totals of cash, charges and checks
received and preparing bank deposit slips.
Operates automated equipment such as cash registers, charge
terminals, computer terminals and other manual and automated office
equipment.
General advisement in all aspects of student financial services
i.e. installment payment plans, fee payment, fee payment deadlines,
refunds, dishonored, third-party billing, etc.
Performs other related duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
These are the job duties for required of the position
Education
High school diploma or GED required.
Experience
Minimum one (1) year of accounting/cashiering experience
required.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
- General knowledge of cashiering function
- Working knowledge of general accounting principles and
procedures used in financial record keeping.
- Skilled in making accurate monetary transactions; in performing
mathematical computations i.e. account reconciliation.
- Ability to prepare written records and reports; to operate
keyboards and calculators; to communicate effectively with
customers and co-workers (i.e. students, staff, faculty and the
general public); to operate manual and automated office equipment,
computer literacy required. PeopleSoft ERP experience a PLUS but
not required.
- Superior verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work in fast paced environment and multi-tasks as
necessary.
