Hours:Part Time
Contract Type:Fixed-Term/Contract

The role

In this role, you'll organise a range of in-person, hybrid, and online events for the Accelerated Compute Infrastructure Training Hub (ACIT Hub), including workshops, training weeks, and more.

You’ll be responsible for all the logistics of the events and making sure everything runs smoothly and within budget. It will be important for you to ensure all events are inclusive, accessible, and recognise the importance of diversity in our field.

While following guidance from the Hub lead, you’ll have freedom in how to achieve the goals of the position and your priorities. This is an exciting opportunity to shape the delivery of a major new national training programme.

Some travel to events across the country and working outside of core hours will occasionally be required.

We operate a hybrid remote working model and for this role you will be expected to work on campus at least 1 day a week.

About us

The ACIT-Hub is a new project that provides professional development and training opportunities to technical experts working with supercomputers hardware. Our mission is to create a professional network for these experts and encourage diverse routes into the field for people of all backgrounds, increasing the creativity and ingenuity of the field.

The project is a collaboration between the University of Surrey, University of Oxford, University of Sheffield, Imperial College London and University of Bristol.

About you

You’ll bring experience across the full event lifecycle, including venue logistics, catering and hybrid AV delivery.

No specialist technical background is required — your event‑management experience is what matters.

If you’re highly organised, proactive, passionate about EDI, a good communicator, and love putting on great events, then we want to hear from you!

Benefits

We believe that the University of Surrey is a fantastic place to work. We are dedicated to creating a dynamic and enjoyable environment in which people can thrive.

We offer a supportive, flexible working environment with:

  • Annual incremental pay rises
  • Hybrid working
  • Generous pension (up to 30%)
  • 32 days’ holiday pro rata plus bank holidays
  • Salary‑sacrifice benefits (rail fare, cycle‑to‑work, childcare)
  • Discounted access to on‑site fitness facilities

We celebrate diversity and welcome applications from all backgrounds, particularly those under-represented in HE environments.

This role can be combined with a 50% administrative post to create a full‑time role.

How to apply

Please apply via the University of Surrey website, where you will be asked to complete some questions to help us understand your suitability for the role.

For more information or an informal conversation, please contact Helen Cooper, ACIT Hub Lead, Helen.Cooper@surrey.ac.uk

Interviews will be held weeks commencing the 11th and 18th May.
