New funding opportunity from the Society for the Study of Addiction and UK Government’s Office for Life Sciences
The Society for the Study of Addiction (SSA) is offering PhD studentships as part of the Addiction Healthcare Goals flagship research leadership programme. The aim is to support people and projects that drive innovative responses to addiction to illicit drugs and alcohol.
Strong applications for funding will demonstrate how the research aligns with:
- The aims of Addiction Healthcare Goals
- The aims of the UK Government’s 10-year drug strategy, ‘From Harm to Hope’
- The ten priority questions for addiction research identified by the James Lind Alliance priority-setting partnership
Strong candidates will be able to:
- Demonstrate excellence in their studies
- Demonstrate their potential to become a future leader
- Describe plans to develop their skills and experience
- Present a proposal for research that will have an impact on addiction treatment, policy, and/or research
What can I expect from this PhD studentship?
The SSA is a relatively small Society with staff and trustees that are dedicated to offering the best learning experience, and who take an active interest in the wellbeing and future of PhD students.
The studentship offer includes:
- a stipend (living allowance) and tuition fees in line with UKRI levels
- research and training costs of up to £5,000
