Description: A person employed as an adiunkt-tenure (assistant professor) for an indefinite period at the Department of Mass Spectrometry – NZ65 at IFJ PAN will be obliged to participate in work on research topics and projects implemented and planned for the nearest period at the NZ65 Department.
The basic tasks of the employed person will include: conducting research on environmental contamination and developing new research methods using a mass spectrometer. Involvement in work on other projects carried out at the Department.
The employed person will also be obliged to disseminate the results of research in the form of publications in leading scientific journals indexed in the JCR and speeches during seminars and conferences, including international ones. This person will also be obliged to apply for external funding for research.

Skills/Qualifications
1. Required qualifications:
- habilitated doctor's degree in physical sciences or related disciplines, or a doctoral degree in physical sciences or related disciplines with scientific achievements that largely meet the requirements for candidates for the habilitated doctor's degree,
- qualifications necessary to carry out research tasks carried out at NZ65,
- knowledge of the research topics in the area of applied physics, nuclear spectrometry techniques in environmental research, statistical methods of verification of obtained results,
- experience in the field of radiochemical methods and spectrometric measurements,
- work skills in a laboratory, measurements on a mass spectrometer, instrument calibration, measuring Pu, U isotopes, mass ratios, trace elements and heavy metals, together with data analysis,
- good knowledge of analytical techniques, actinide separation
- very good knowledge of spoken and written English.
Welcome:
- knowledge of graphic and statistical programs,
- high motivation for further development and ability to work in a team.

Applicants seeking employment at the IFJ PAN are required to contact the head of the NZ65 Department, dr hab. Edyta Łokas (Edyta.Lokas@ifj.edu.pl), Prof. IFJ PAN, by November 9th, 2026, who may ask the candidate to give a seminar before submitting an application; the Department Head then sends the Selection Committee a brief opinion recommending or not recommending the candidate for employment. Failure to meet with the Department Head by November 9th, 2026, will result in the application being rejected on procedural grounds.
The Director of the Institute may cancel the competition at any stage of the recruitment process without providing a reason.

Selection process
All applications will be reviewed by the Selection Committee. Based on the submitted documentation, the Committee shall: conduct a formal review of the application; evaluate the qualifications of candidates whose applications meet the formal requirements; and select a candidate to be interviewed. Interviews with candidates shall take place from December 1st, to December 3rd, 2026. Candidates qualified for interviews shall be notified by e-mail about the exact date of the Interview by November 20th, 2026. During the interview the candidate shall be required to give a presentation, stored on a pen drive, lasting 10 minutes at maximum which shell presenting candidate’s most important achievement,
- The competition shall be concluded by December 15th, 2026.
- Each candidate shall be notified by e-mail about the results of the competition.
The final decision on employing and salary shall be taken by IFJ PAN Director.
Additional comments
A person employed at the position of Assistant Professor with a postdoctoral degree (habilitation) of PLN 8,050 gross, and with a PhD degree will receive a monthly basic salary of PLN 7,250 gross.
The total amount of remuneration is influenced by additional components, such as:
- length of service
- allowance for working under conditions of exposure to ionizing radiation (if applicable)
