The Department of Early Childhood, Elementary, Middle Grades, Reading, and Special Education in the College of Education at Fayetteville State University invites applications for a full-time, fixed-term faculty position at the Adjunct Assistant Professor level, beginning Fall 2026. This is a non-tenure-track position.
The successful candidate will hold an earned doctorate in Elementary Education, Early Childhood Education, Educational Leadership, or a closely related field from an accredited university. A minimum of three years of successful K-6 teaching experience is required.
Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate and/or graduate courses, assessing student learning outcomes, and participating in departmental, college, and accreditation activities as assigned by the Dean and Department Chair.
Primary Purpose of the Position
- Prepare course syllabi, deliver face-to-face and/or online instruction, design and grade assessments, and utilize technology-based instructional methods as needed.
- Maintain regular on-campus office hours for student consultation.
- Teach a standard load of four (4) three-credit-hour courses each fall and spring semester.
- Participate in departmental, college, and university activities, including committee service.
- Engage in service and professional activities relevant to the faculty member's area of specialization.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
- Earned doctorate in Elementary Education, Early Childhood Education, Educational Leadership, or a closely related field from an accredited university.
- Minimum of three years of successful teaching experience in K-6 education.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in Elementary Education, including methods of teaching social studies, mathematics, language arts, science, and/or reading.
- Evidence of mentoring undergraduate students, providing service, and engaging in research, grant writing, and other scholarly activities.
