Adjunct Assistant Professor - Nursing
Founded in 1971 in Long Island City, Queens, LaGuardia Community College is one of seven community colleges of the City University of New York (CUNY). LaGuardia offers more than sixty associate degree programs and more than fifty workforce training, ESOL, GED, and pre-college programs. In 2023, LaGuardia served approximately 24,000 students. More than one-third of LaGuardia’s degree-seeking students are born outside the United States; they come from 136 countries and speak 43 heritage languages. Sixty percent are first-generation college students.
Virtually all LaGuardia students are ethnic minorities (89 percent), 58 percent are women, 27 percent are over the age of 25. Forty-six percent of associate degree students are Hispanic. Upon graduation most students transfer to four-year colleges, typically in CUNY, to complete their baccalaureate degrees. Graduates of career programs such as Nursing, Computer Technology, and Veterinary Technology enter the workforce. LaGuardia Community College, a nationally recognized leader in student success and nursing education, invites applications for Adjunct Assistant Professor positions in the Nursing Department. We are seeking passionate, student-centered registered nurses who are eager to share their clinical expertise and help prepare the next generation of professional nurses.
Adjunct faculty play a vital role in supporting our diverse student population through high-quality teaching in lecture, laboratory, and/or clinical settings. We value collaboration, innovation in teaching, and a strong commitment to equity and student achievement
Reporting to the department chair, the Assistant Adjunct Professor would be responsible for the following:
- Supervise students in clinical settings, promoting safe and professional nursing practice;
- Teach assigned undergraduate nursing courses (lecture, laboratory, and/or clinical);
- Develop and deliver course materials aligned with program learning outcomes;
- Evaluate student performance using established assessment tools and grading standards;
- Maintain accurate academic and clinical documentation;
- Provide academic guidance and maintain availability for student support;
- Participate in course coordination and program assessment activities;
- Utilize the college’s learning management system and instructional technologies;
- Comply with college policies and clinical agency requirements.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Master’s degree in a nursing field from an accredited institution.
- Active, unrestricted New York State Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing.
- Minimum of three (3) years of professional clinical nursing experience.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with students and faculty.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Prior college-level teaching experience in nursing (didactic, laboratory, clinical, and/or simulation).

- Experience with student evaluation methods and clinical competency assessment.
- Experience with Simulation Technology
- Familiarity with accreditation standards and nursing program outcomes assessment.

COMPENSATION
$120.83 per hour.
