Essential Job Duties

The primary role of this position is to Perform high volume, high quality, spay/neuter surgeries on pediatric to geriatric patients at the East Valley Spay/Neuter Clinic in Los Angeles.
Participating in the development of the Shelter Medicine Program in the College
Provide wellness and preventive medicine services in a caring and compassionate environment for a diverse population of animals and animal owners.
Liaise with city Animal Services personnel in regards to the health and welfare of animals residing in shelter facilities
Engage the larger animal shelter, rescue, and welfare communities to improve the lives on animals through innovative programs and educational opportunities
Create and maintain a safe and effective learning environment for student learning
Design and supervise student clinical training experiences in a high paced clinical environment
Participate, as appropriate, in the delivery of the DVM curriculum
Assist in the development of graduate training programs in shelter medicine
Assist in the development of client and community education programs focusing on preventive medicine, the human-animal bond, pet overpopulation, and other topics designed to sustain healthy pets in homes and out of the shelter system
Participating in local, national, and/or international continuing education programs
Other duties as assigned.
