Adjunct, Certified Nursing Assistant
Position Summary:
Provides didactic and/or skills instruction following Maryland Board of Nursing approved CNA curriculum to meet the educational requirements stated in the course description and objectives. Instructors prepare continuing education students to take the Maryland Board of Nursing Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) skills exam and the Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) exam.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conduct organized classes at the instructional level to meet the educational requirements stated in the course description and objectives and in accordance with Maryland Board of Nursing approved curriculum.
- Teach core skills related to CNA/GNA scope of practice
- Evaluate the progress of each student; notify students in need of remediation and/or tutoring services.
- Prepare students for CNA and GNA testing
- Supervise and evaluate students during clinical experience at long term care facility
- Maintains professional relationships with students, colleagues and the community
- Participate in appropriate professional development activities to assure currency in both discipline, knowledge and instructional methods
Required Minimum Qualifications:
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) with license to practice in Maryland
- Related professional experience or appropriate professional licensure in content area or closely related field
- At least one year of nursing experience which was in caring for the elderly or chronically ill in the past 5 years.
