General Job Summary
Kirkwood Community College's Social Sciences Department seeks a skilled enthusiastic individual to join our department to teach various courses onsite. These are face-to-face sections at the Kirkwood Regional Center at the University of Iowa (Coralville). The successful candidate will have strong knowledge base in their discipline and teaching experience at the community college level is desirable.
Primary duties will include teaching the assigned classes. This may include Intro to Criminal Justice, Police and Society, or other criminal justice classes.
The section will meet Monday/Wednesday, 7:30-9 AM, August 24th-December 11th.
Adjunct faculty positions are temporary, part-time positions scheduled intermittently based on institutional need. Adjuncts are not guaranteed work in any semester and are notified of course assignments prior to each term as courses become available.

Duties/Responsibilities
- Provide face-to-face instruction in discipline
- Work with other faculty members to develop a course syllabus and consistent assessments.
- Communicate with department staff, students, and faculty on a regular basis.
- Evaluate student performance and provide timely feedback on a regular basis.
- Utilize the Kirkwood Learning Management System to post course syllabi and relevant documents and provide access to student grade book.
- Regularly engage in professional development activities and actively seek information about developing trends and ideas.
- Perform other related work duties as assigned.
Possible Teaching Schedule
Fall 2026 (August 24, 2026 - December 2026)
- Linn County Regional Education Center, Hiawatha, Iowa - Intro to Criminal Justice
- Jones County Regional Education Center, Monticello Iowa - Intro to Criminal Justice Monday and Wednesday 12:30-1:25 p.m.
- Kirkwood Regional Center at University of Iowa (KRCUI), Coralville, IA - Intro to Criminal Justice Mon. and Wed. 7:30-9:00 a.m.

Minimum Qualifications
Master’s degree in criminal justice; OR master’s degree with a minimum of 12 credit hours in criminal justice.
Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience in face-to-face instruction at a community college. Prior use of a learning management system.
