Position Summary

Adjunct Faculty - Applied Coaching Techniques

The School of Health Sciences at Lasell University is seeking part-time faculty member for the Coaching minor. The School of Health Sciences offers a Bachelor's Degree in Exercise Science at the undergraduate level and the School of Business offers a Bachelor's Degree in Sports Management. The Coaching minor is a combination of varying classes between the two majors for any students interested. The current listing is for in-person classes that are already scheduled.

• EXSC202 Applied Coaching Techniques:
  + Tuesdays & Thursdays 9:30am-10:45am

EXSC 202 Applied Coaching Techniques: The course is designed to help aspiring coaches teach the skills athletes need in order to perform effectively in team and individualized sports. Students will learn how to address the various issues faced by athletic coaches by thoroughly examining such concepts as individual differences exhibited by athletes; technical, tactical, and mental skills athletes need to learn; content and structure of skill practice; the art of providing feedback; and the preparation of athletes for competition. This exploration prepares coaches to work with athletes competently and confidently in most coaching settings.

Responsibilities and Duties:

• Proficiency in maintaining an organized Canvas page and ability to deliver engaging course material.
• Provide instruction for all sessions of assigned courses utilizing the college philosophy of connected learning.
• Provide a syllabus and course outline to students that clearly communicates course learning outcomes.
• Maintain office hours each week and timely communications with students via email and phone
• Keep accurate records of student progress (grades) and complete mid-semester and final grade reports.

Qualifications:

• Master's degree in Exercise Science, Coaching, Education, Sports Management, or a related field (Ph.D. preferred).
• Preference will be given to candidates with previous experience
• Preference will also be given to those with coaching certifications
