Overview:
Salem State University Nursing School of Nursing invites applications for adjunct faculty with interest and experience teaching Public Health in a clinical setting. Teaching assignments may include days, evenings, or weekends and range from 6 to 15 hours/week over the course of the semester.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Work collaboratively with faculty, in a school with future-directed leadership and a collective focus on academic excellence, success of our students and faculty development.
- Provide weekly updates on student performance to the course coordinator.
- Attend the mandatory program update meeting each semester for clinical adjunct faculty.
- Attend orientation/training to fulfill compliance requirements as required by the School of Nursing and by any assigned clinical practice sites.
- Be accountable for instruction, supervision, and evaluation of student competencies of a diverse student population in the clinical practice and/or laboratory setting.
- Develop and maintain competence appropriate to teaching responsibilities including, but not limited to orientation and mentoring to the nurse educator role.
- Participation in professional development in nursing education such as certification, and continuing education.
- Collaborate with faculty, staff, and program administrator to support policies and objectives of the program and on all applicable components of the systematic evaluation plan.
Required Qualifications:
- Hold a current unencumbered Massachusetts Registered Nurse license.
- Graduate degree in nursing. Minimum of five years of full-time registered nurse experience within the last eight years. Evidence of clinical competency in clinical instruction.
- OR
- Hold a current unencumbered Massachusetts Registered Nurse license.
- Possess a minimum of five years full-time registered nurse experience within the last eight years.
- Baccalaureate degree in nursing and meet at least one of the following criteria
- 1. Matriculation in a graduate nursing program with expected graduation date within five years of the date of appointment.
- OR
- 2. Possess a related non-nursing graduate degree.
- OR
- 3. Possess a current Nurse Education Certification recognized by a Massachusetts Board certified organization.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Teaching experience
- Demonstrated commitment to collaboration and collegiality
- Demonstrated commitment to teaching, supervision, and advising
- Strength and potential for excellence and leadership in community engagement and university services
- Appropriate terminal degree
- College-level teaching experience, at both the undergraduate and graduate levels
- Experience teaching a multicultural population
Working Location:
Clinical Adjunct Faculty are assigned a working location from North Shore to Boston.
