Job Description:

The Division of Humanities and Learning Communities is looking to hire an Adjunct Faculty member to teach English classes. Primarily responsibilities include:

• Provide instruction to students in both the theory and practice of English.
• Incorporate a variety of teaching methods and materials to assist students with differing educational experiences, experiential backgrounds, and learning styles in meeting course competencies.
• Evaluates students' progress towards stated course competencies and informs them of their progress in a timely manner.

Requirements:

• Master's degree or Ph.D. in English or related field.
• Experience with high-impact teaching and learning practices (examples: undergraduate research, community engagement, critical pedagogies, learning communities).
• Proven ability to work with a diverse faculty, staff, and student population.
• Ability to teach courses on campus in an in-person setting at BHCC's Charlestown and Chelsea campuses, as well as in a remote setting.

Preferred Requirements:

• Community college teaching experience preferred.
• Availability to teach Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.
• Our students come from a variety of cultural, linguistic, and socioeconomic backgrounds, and we are dedicated to providing them with the support they need to succeed. While not required, the ability to read, speak, and write in Spanish or another language is preferred.

Additional Information:

Salary: $1,397 Per Credit Hour

Effective Date: Spring 2026 semester
