Villanova University invites applications for adjunct teaching positions in Civil and Environmental Engineering for graduate courses taught in the evening and/or undergraduate courses taught during the day. The Civil and Environmental Engineering Department offers programs leading to the B.S. and M.S. degrees and participates in the College of Engineering Ph.D. degree program.

For this position, we are specifically looking for an adjunct faculty member to teach the graduate level course CEE 7511 Microbiology Environmental Engineering. The course description is as follows: Introduction to microbiology and biochemistry; bacteria, fungi, algae, protozoa, and viruses; structure, function, synthesis, and degradation of lipids, proteins, nucleic acids, and carbohydrates; nutritional requirements for microbial growth; waterborne disease; indicator organisms; microbial ecology; and microbiology of the nitrifiers, methanogens, and sulfur bacteria.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master's degree required.
  • The applicant must be committed to excellence in engineering education.

Preferred Qualifications

  • An earned doctorate in Civil Engineering or closely allied discipline is strongly preferred.
  • Previous teaching experience preferred.

Physical Requirements and/or Unusual Work Hours

Undergraduate courses are offered during the day; graduate courses during the evening. Graduate courses include a synchronous component.

Salary Posting Information

This adjunct position falls within the salary range of $1,650.00 - $2,600.00 per credit/contact hour. The final compensation will be determined with consideration of several factors including the selected candidate's educational qualifications, course type (drill, lab, lecture), course level (undergraduate or graduate), and market benchmarks.
