POSITION SUMMARY: Moravian University invites applications for a part-time adjunct teaching position in the political science department to teach POSC 120 A: Introduction to Political Thinking in Fall 2026. This is an introductory political theory survey course that is also part of the general education curriculum.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Teach one section of the undergraduate course POSC 120 A: Introduction to Political Thinking.
- This course meets twice a week: Tuesday/Thursday, 9:15 a.m. to 10:45 a.m.
- Work with existing syllabus and book order (primary sources and anthology).
- Read and respond to weekly student reading notes submitted before class online (most weeks).
- Administer and grade in-person exams on paper.
- Hold student hours for three hours a week.
- Take attendance at every class meeting.
- Submit reports as requested on student attendance and performance.
- Complete required administrative tasks.
QUALIFICATIONS: PHD or ABD in political science with first or second field concentration in political theory. Preferred: Undergraduate teaching experience in 100-level introductory political theory courses.
