Position Summary: The United States Sports University (USSU) is seeking qualified and experienced adjunct faculty members to teach undergraduate online courses in the disciplines of science including anatomy and physiology, chemistry, or physics. These courses support a diverse student body pursuing degrees in exercise science, sports management, sports coaching, sport leadership, and business administration. Adjunct faculty members serve a critical role in advancing USSU’s mission by providing engaging and student-centered instruction. Faculty are expected to develop and deliver course content that is current, evidence-based, and aligned with academic and industry standards.
Successful candidates will demonstrate subject matter expertise, a commitment to inclusive teaching practices, proficiency with learning management systems (Canvas), and the ability to foster meaningful interaction in an online environment. This position offers an opportunity to influence the next generation of sport professionals by equipping them with essential knowledge and transferable skills that support both academic achievement and career advancement in the global sport industry.
Key Responsibilities:
- Teach assigned courses and deliver in-person and/or online instruction using USSU’s learning management system (Canvas).
- Conduct weekly live sessions to provide interactive instruction, review key concepts, and engage students in real-time discussions.
- Develop course materials such as syllabi, assignments, quizzes, and exams, ensuring alignment with departmental learning outcomes and academic standards.
- Facilitate online discussions and activities, creating opportunities for peer interaction.
- Grade and assess student work in a timely and constructive manner, offering meaningful feedback that supports academic growth.
- Utilize technology effectively, including USSU’s learning management system (Canvas) for posting course materials, grading, and communicating with students.
- Monitor student progress and participation, proactively reaching out to struggling students to provide additional support or resources.
- Support the mission and vision of the United States Sports University in all teaching-related activities.
- Uphold University policies, maintain academic integrity, and contribute to a collaborative academic community focused on continuous improvement and student success.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of a Master's degree in the discipline, or a closely related field (Doctorate preferred).
- Professional experience in one or more of the listed disciplines.
- Previous teaching experience, preferably at the college or university level, and experience with online instruction is strongly preferred.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a remote teaching environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Doctorate/Terminal degree in a related field.
- Professional certifications relevant to the discipline(s).
- Experience in curriculum development and academic assessment.
