Adjunct Instructor 1 - Construction Management
Summary of Position
To hire adjunct faculty to teach one course or a variety of courses in the following degree programs: Building Construction Technology AAS, Civil Engineering Technology AAS, and Construction Management BS. In addition to common topics, experience in construction, surveying, construction finance, construction law, and virtual design and construction will be considered. Assignments may be lectures or labs; face-to-face, blended or online; in Big Rapids, Grand Rapids or other locations. A focus on student success, office hours, and use of current technology are expected. This is a pooled position. Applicants may be hired as needed on a semester-by-semester basis. The anticipated start date is August 2023 at the earliest, and January 2024 at the latest.
Required Education
1. Master’s degree or higher in Construction Management, Construction Engineering, Construction Technology, Civil Engineering, Architectural Engineering or related field plus eight (8) years full-time US commercial or industry construction experience (required for 300 and 400 level courses). OR 2. Bachelor’s degree in the above fields plus an MBA and eight years full-time US commercial or industry experience with increasing responsibility (required for 300 and 400 level courses). OR 3. Bachelor’s degree in the above fields plus ten (10) years full-time US commercial or industry experience with increasing responsibility (required for 100 and 200 level courses).
Essential Duties/Responsibilities
Meet established course outcomes. Plan, deliver, and grade all course content and student work for assigned courses. Conduct construction management, building construction technology, and civil engineering technology classes, labs, or other assignments in a professional manner. Maintain a minimum of one hour per week per course section for office hours. Faculty may be required to teach off-campus or online. Demonstrates an understanding of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
