Adjunct Instructor, Art Appreciation and Humanities
Essential Job Functions
- Teach assigned Art Appreciation and Humanities courses in accordance with approved course descriptions, learning outcomes, and academic standards.
Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in Art, Art History, Humanities, or closely related field required; Doctorate, preferred.
- Minimum of 18 graduate credit hours in related coursework.
- One (1) year teaching experience in related field
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of art history, art appreciation, and humanities disciplines, including visual arts, culture, history, philosophy, and literature.
- Knowledge of major artistic movements, styles, and cultural influences across historical periods.
- Skill in developing lesson plans, lectures, and instructional materials.
- Effective communication and presentation skills.
- Skill in evaluating student work and providing constructive feedback.
- Strong teaching and classroom facilitation skills to engage students in discussion and critical analysis.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills to manage course materials, grading, and deadlines.
- Ability to integrate visual, cultural, and interdisciplinary perspectives into instruction.
- Ability to teach introductory courses in art appreciation and humanities effectively.
- Ability to encourage critical thinking and appreciation of diverse artistic and cultural traditions.
- Ability to create an inclusive and engaging learning environment for students of diverse backgrounds.
- Ability to use instructional technologies and multimedia tools to enhance teaching.
