Job Summary: The incumbent will teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses in the Department of Human Sciences. The incumbent will bring expertise in areas such as human development, family studies, nutrition, consumer sciences, or related fields, and demonstrates commitment to student success and inclusive teaching practices.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities: Comprehensive understanding of theories, principles, and research in human development, family dynamics, and social/behavioral sciences. Knowledge of instructional strategies and curriculum development in higher education. Knowledge of assessment methods to evaluate student learning outcomes effectively. Strong teaching and classroom management skills to foster student engagement and learning. Excellent written and verbal communication skills for instruction, feedback, and academic advising. Ability to design and deliver lectures, discussions, and activities that promote critical thinking. Strong organizational skills for course planning, grading, and recordkeeping. Ability to apply real-world examples and practical applications to enhance student understanding. Ability to collaborate with colleagues, faculty, and staff in supporting program goals. Ability to maintain professional and ethical standards in all teaching and student interactions.
Essential Job Functions: Teach assigned courses in Human Sciences, both in-person and/or online. Develop and deliver course materials aligned with departmental standards. Assess student performance and provide timely, constructive feedback. Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and academic progress. Hold regular office hours and provide academic support to students. Collaborate with department faculty and staff to enhance curriculum and student engagement. Stay current with developments in the field and integrate relevant knowledge into teaching. Mentor students in research, scholarship, and career planning.
Qualifications: Doctorate (Ph.D or Ed.D) in Human Sciences or related discipline. Experience with online teaching platforms (e.g., Canvas, Blackboard). Professional experience in human services, public health, or education. Evidence of innovative teaching practices or curriculum development.
