QUALIFICATIONS

Education Requirements:

  • Required: Current IL Massage Therapy License; Completion of at least 30 college credit hours beyond massage therapy training (official transcripts required).
  • Preferred: Associate’s degree or higher; Board Certification in Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (BCTMB).

Experience Requirements:

  • Required: Minimum of two years of professional massage therapy practice.
  • Preferred: Experience with the techniques covered in this course in a clinical setting; Prior teaching experience.

ABOUT THE TEAM

With continuous advancement in patient carer, health care workers with training in the latest technology and best practices are in constant demand. The Harper College Health Careers Division prepares students for a career in a variety of health settings, from hospitals and clinics, to nursing homes and community based organizations.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Harper College invites applications for an adjunct instructor to teach a hands-on massage therapy course during the Spring 2026 semester.

Course: MTP 125 – Foundations of Massage Therapy II
Schedule: Wednesdays, 8:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m. | January 14–May 13, 2026
Location: Palatine Campus | In-person instruction

Course Overview:
MTP 125 – Foundations of Massage Therapy II builds on foundational massage therapy skills and introduces approaches including myofascial release, trigger point therapy, cross-fiber friction, and specific-tissue massage. The course includes both lecture and lab components.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging, effective instruction in both lecture and lab settings.
  • Provide students with timely feedback based on assessments and evaluations of their work.
  • Prepare and facilitate lab activities while ensuring adherence to lab safety standards.
  • Provide the department with a course syllabus, instructional materials, attendance records, and gradebook.
  • Maintain current Illinois Massage Therapist licensure.
  • Utilize previously developed course materials, if desired, or incorporate your own in consultation with the program coordinator.
  • Support and accommodate students with special needs in accordance with College policies.

Additional Information:
Courses are offered in-person on the Palatine campus. Massage Therapy Program courses may be scheduled during the day, evening, or on Saturdays.
