Adjunct Lecturer, Philosophy (Pooled Posting)
Job Description Summary
The Philosophy Department is searching for adjunct instructors to teach daytime or evening sections of Problems of Philosophy (PH 101), and possibly other courses, in the upcoming Fall and Spring semesters.
Problems of Philosophy is a required course in Bentley's general education core curriculum. Students are required to learn the basic elements of ethics; other elements of the course design are up to the instructor. In addition to the usual teaching duties (e.g., lecturing, facilitating discussion, grading), instructors are expected to respond to student inquiries and hold office hours (at least one hour per week). Adjunct faculty positions are ongoing pooled positions. Candidates' materials will remain on file and will be reviewed on an as-needed basis.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Candidates must have at least an M.A. in Philosophy. Preference will be given to candidates with a Ph.D. in Philosophy.
In addition to the usual teaching duties (e.g., lecturing, facilitating discussion, grading), instructors are expected to respond to student inquiries and hold office hours (at least one hour per week).

Salary Range:
Compensation for adjunct faculty is governed by the collective bargaining agreement between Bentley University and the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) Local 509.
For the 2025–26 academic year, adjunct faculty are compensated at a rate of $7,225.00 per course.
Courses with labs and other four-credit courses shall will be compensated at a higher minimum rate of $9,333.00 per course.
