Job Description:
BASIC FUNCTION:
The Department of Philosophy at Salve Regina University is seeking adjunct faculty to teach introductory level courses in philosophical ethics. Upper-level courses may also be available, depending on departmental schedules and the applicant's area of expertise. This is an ongoing search, as teaching opportunities are available in the department most semesters. The applicant is expected to support the university's mercy mission and to foster an inclusive and engaging classroom.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepare and teach assigned courses at their designated times, and in accordance with their published catalog descriptions
- Prepare and objectively grade assignments, exams and other assessments in a timely manner and in accordance with university policies
- Maintain accurate and transparent student records
- Foster student success through maintenance of regularly scheduled office hours and timely responses to email inquiries
- Adhere to all administrative University policies
- Maintain appropriate standards of professional conduct and ethics
- Work collaboratively with the appointed course coordinator and/or laboratory coordinator, where applicable
Requirements:
Required:
- A minimum of a Master's degree in philosophy (or related field) or other terminal professional degree.
- Demonstrable experience teaching at the undergraduate level
- Ability to teach courses at their scheduled times (may be morning, afternoon or evening)
- Experience using technology and interactive electronic materials to support teaching and learning
- Knowledge of Learning Management Systems such as Canvas
Preferred:
- A Ph.D. is preferred, but not required.
