Adjunct Pool - Spanish Instructor
Position Summary
The Department of World Languages and Cultures in the College of Arts and Sciences at North Central College invites applications for an adjunct, non-tenure track position in Spanish. Adjunct faculty are appointed on a course-by-course basis. This posting is ongoing to develop a qualified pool of candidates. The department needs vary from semester to semester.
The duties in this role include:
- Deliver communicative instruction following the provided syllabus and textbook, for a variety of sections in elementary and intermediate Spanish courses.
- Assess students’ work and provide detailed feedback on how to improve students’ oral and written communication skills in Spanish.
- Report midterm and final grades to Registrar within the college due dates and platforms.
- Communicate regularly and timely with the Elementary Spanish Coordinator and the World Languages and Cultures Chair about the general development of the courses and/or any issues that may arise.
Basic Qualifications
- The successful candidate will have completed a Masters or Ph.D. degree in Spanish, Linguistics, Literature or related fields.
- The qualified individual should demonstrate high-advanced, native-like, or native fluency in Spanish at the oral and written levels.
- Applicants must demonstrate commitment to excellence in teaching and mentoring of students, and ongoing scholarship.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with teaching Spanish, Linguistics or Literature.
- Demonstrated excellence in communication skills, teaching, and research.
