Job Description: The adjunct will teach the course Foundations of Ecology. The course is described as follows: BIO-2010 Foundations of Ecology (3 Credits): Although this is the first course in the Ecology sequence for Environmental Studies majors, it is open to all students. An introduction to basic ecological concepts such as the niche, food chains and food webs, biotic competition, importance of biodiversity, and movement of nutrients and matter through basic terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems will be included. The importance of these concepts to understanding how ecosystems function will be integral to the course. Discussion of how ecosystems are being affected by human activities will also be included.
Supervisory Responsibilities: None.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Teach the course Bio2010, which includes 2 lectures per week (1 hour and 20 minutes per lecture session). Days and times of lecture are TBD by professor and chair.
- Use Brightspace as a digital learning platform for course materials and grading.
- Hold 3 office hours per week.

Qualifications:
Education: M.S., Ph.D., post-docs, or experienced academicians with a strong background in a related discipline (e.g., ecology, environmental science)
Experience: Experience with teaching a similar course is preferred
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of standing and walking around a classroom.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
Salary: The annual salary for this position is dependent upon the adjunct union contract
Hours Expectation: 2 lectures per week (1 hour and 20 minutes per lecture session) as well as 3 office hours per week. Days and Times: TBD
Housing: Housing is not provided.
Benefits: Adjunct instructors may contribute to a 403(b) retirement plan.
