Job Description

The University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law, seeks a law professional to teach classes on a part-time basis. Adjunct faculty enrich the curriculum with practical experience and specialized courses.

Primary Purpose and Essential Functions: Adjunct professors are part-time, non-tenure track employees contracted to teach specific classes. Duties include completing employment documentation, preparing syllabi, providing a conducive learning environment, adhering to policies, teaching assigned courses, tracking attendance, using learning management platforms, grading assessments, meeting with students, scheduling make-up classes, and reviewing course evaluations.

We are seeking applicants to teach in areas such as Family Law, Legal Writing & Research, Information Privacy, Criminal Law, Race & Mass Incarceration, Evidence, Legislation and Lawmaking, Executive Government & Processes, Contracts, Community Property, The Legal Profession, Negotiation, and other courses as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Juris Doctorate (J.D.) degree.
• Three (3) years post-J.D. work experience in a related field.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Prior teaching experience or evidence of teaching potential.
• Three years working in the substantive legal field.
• Ability to lead in a change environment, inspire excellence, work with diverse backgrounds, advance social justice, and integrate culturally responsive practices.

Physical Requirements:

Work involves travel in Sacramento, may require evenings/weekends, extended sitting, repetitive motion, occasional standing, walking, lifting up to 25 pounds.
