The Peabody Preparatory is pleased to announce an adjunct Voice teaching position in the Voice Department at the Peabody Preparatory, a division of the Peabody Institute of The Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, MD commencing August of 2026.
The successful candidate will join a highly skilled and dedicated voice faculty as part of a vibrant and active department committed to helping students of all ages and levels achieve their potential; we embrace the novice musician as well as the serious student aspiring toward a career in music.
Preferred candidates for this position will have a background in vocal performance and education, and experience teaching students of all ages and levels.
Duties:
- Class voice for beginner Adult Singers (Saturdays)
- Private lessons as assigned for ages 13+ (by arrangement)
- Assist with end-of-semester presentations and events as needed
- Attend faculty meetings as needed.
- Other appropriate duties as assigned (eg, help prepare singers for chorus auditions)
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Vocal Performance and/or Music Education with Voice emphasis
- Master’s degree or equivalent experience and training preferred
- Experience teaching beginner adults as well as teens
- Experience with adolescent changing voices a plus
- Experience across genres a plus (classical, musical theater, gospel etc)
- Keyboard skills not required, but helpful
Requirements:
- Strong commitment to new-study singers
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Saturday and after-school/early evening availability
This position will be primarily be based at the downtown Mt Vernon Peabody campus, but independent transport to the Preparatory’s county campuses is also required for events and additional assignments as needed.
