Description
Northland Pioneer College is looking for a Center Office/Library Assistant is to assist in day-to-day activities of the College center, including the operation of the library, facilities, fleet vehicles, security, and safety.
Examples of Duties
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Standard Expectations (Clerical):
- Assists the Center Manager in day-to-day operation of the center.
- Sorts and distributes mail.
- Assists in payments for tuition, books, other fees, and requests. Receives, deposits, and reconciles College fuds and submits appropriate documentation to the Business Office.
- Meets and greets the public, including assisting students and prospective students.
- Assists customers and provides information or directs inquiries through the proper channels.
- Answers and processes telephone calls; routes messages to the appropriate person or department.
- Assists with registration activities following the College procedures.
- Creates and maintains center files, both manual and automated.
- Opens buildings and classrooms on schedule and secures buildings and classrooms when the center is closing. Maintains a daily written log of activities.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Standard Expectations (Library and Media):
- Assists Center Advisor/Library Technician with all library functions using library procedures.
- Conducts patron reference interviews.
- Shelves returned materials.
- Assists students and patrons in locating and selecting materials.
- Assists with the use of audio-visual equipment for telecommunication classes.
- Delivers class materials for telecommunication classes.
- Monitors tests for NPC instructors and non-NPC students.
- Assists customers with locating information, including electronic resources.
- Distributes student material for telecommunication classes.
- Schedules audio-visual equipment and maintains inventory list.
- Assists customers in the use of computers.
Skills Required:
- Ability to use computer and applicable software applications.
- Ability to operate standard office equipment, faxes, copiers, and multi-line phone systems.
- Ability to properly handle money and credit payments and perform basic mathematical calculations.
- Ability to read and comprehend the English language sufficiently to understand written and verbal information, including interpreting policies and procedures.
- Ability to prepare basic written communications using proper grammar and word usage.
- Strong customer service skills.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to, with or without reasonable accommodation, operate a telephone, computer keyboard, and other electronic equipment. Ability to lift 30 pounds, climb ladders, reach overhead heights, and bend respectively. Critical sensory requirements include general vision (corrected to 20/20), hearing within the normal range (corrected), and the ability to speak and give directions clearly.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- One (1) year of office experience.
- Must be able to work evenings and be on call.
- Reliable transportation.
- Valid driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's degree
