We have an exciting opportunity for someone to join the Nuffield Department of Women’s & Reproductive Health as an Administrative Assistant. The postholder will be supporting two important healthcare research programmes: the Children’s Surgery Outcome Reporting (CSOR) and the UK Obstetric Surveillance System (UKOSS). In this role, you will work closely with the Programme Managers to ensure reliable, timely management of study data, including collection, processing, validation, and quality assurance.

The CSOR programme focuses on improving outcomes for children undergoing complex surgeries in specialised hospitals across England and Scotland. Since many conditions treated are rare and treatments significantly varies across hospitals, programme has been set up to try to identify which elements of care result in better outcomes for children, and to facilitate sharing of good practice amongst hospitals. his programme is a collaboration involving the University of Oxford, leading hospitals, parent groups, and support organisations.

The UKOSS programme studies rare but serious obstetric disorders affecting thousands of women in pregnancy. By collecting data from hospitals nationwide, UKOSS enables research to better understand these conditions and improve clinical care. Monthly reports are gathered from maternity units to track cases and support ongoing epidemiological studies.

Your responsibilities will include maintaining efficient data management systems, liaising with collaborators and clinicians, supporting data providers including parents, and ensuring data integrity through timely entry, reconciliation, cleaning, and validation. You will handle communications, assist with meeting organisation and minute-taking, and use IT tools like Microsoft Excel and Access while adhering to data protection and clinical research governance standards.

This role offers a chance to contribute to vital research that improves healthcare for children and pregnant women by supporting the smooth running of these impactful programmes. If you are organised, detail-oriented, and enjoy working collaboratively in a research environment, this position could be a great fit for you. Further information about the programmes is available on the CSOR and UKOSS websites.

The role requires you to have experience with data entry and managing information using common PC application software. You need to be able to work both independently and as part of a team. Strong writing, communication, and organisational skills are essential. You should be able to use your own initiative, take responsibility, and prioritise tasks effectively. Accuracy and attention to detail are important, along with a good telephone manner. You must understand the confidential nature of the work and be willing to strictly maintain confidentiality. Strong IT skills, especially with Microsoft Office, and proficiency in spoken and written English are also required.

Applications for flexible working arrangements are welcomed and will be considered in line with business needs.

Please note that this role does not meet the salary threshold required to obtain sponsorship for a Skilled Worker visa, however, applications are welcome from candidates who do not currently have the right to work in the UK but who would be eligible to obtain a visa via another route.

You will be required to upload a CV and Supporting Statement as part of your online application. Go to https://www.jobs.ox.ac.uk/cv-and-supporting-statement for information and advice on writing an effective Supporting Statement.

This role is full time and is fixed term 2 years.

The closing date for applications is 12.00 noon on Monday 16th February 2026. Interviews are expected to take place early March.
