Position Summary: This position is central to the MA Department of Elementary and Secondary Education ( DESE ) regulatory compliance and educator preparation practicum placement for the BSU College of Education and Health Sciences. The Administrative Assistant II, Field Experience Coordinator will place ~ 330 teacher candidates in over 50 school districts and agencies for their licensing practicum each academic year and will work directly with teacher candidates and faculty supervisors in terms of candidate practicum performance. The Field Experience Coordinator facilitates the practicum placement process from student application and review for eligibility to working with PDS network and partner schools and agencies to establish full and half semester practicum placements in compliance with DESE program approval field-based experience regulations. The Field Experience Coordinator will communicate with CEHS faculty and staff and PreK-12 district partners to ensure field experiences meet MA DESE licensure requirements and they are responsible for reporting functions relating to BSU educator licensure programs, US DOE , and MA DESE program approval. Supervision Received: Staff Associate, Educator Licensure Officer Supervision Exercised: Student employees (Full-time, AFSCME position) Tour of Duty: Monday - Friday, 8:15-4:30 PM (with Saturday and Sunday as days off). (Subject to Change) This position is located on campus in Bridgewater, MA and may be eligible for a hybrid schedule in accordance with BSU remote work policy. This is a non-essential position. Position Type: AFSCME Classified Essential Duties: Work closely with the Registrar's Office to oversee student teacher registration process and communicate requirements to teacher candidates. Facilitate teacher candidate criminal offender record inquiries ( CORI ) and SAFIS fingerprinting process for field placement sites. Work cooperatively and collegially with students, program faculty, practicum liaisons, CEHS staff, and PreK-12 schools to organize and implement procedures for candidate field placement, practicum assessment, and documentation. Maintain and update electronic applications for the Professional Education Program, teacher candidate practicum, and program completer survey. Work with Licensure Officer to design and moderate spring and fall semester practicum orientation for teacher candidates, program supervisors, and practicum liaisons. Coordinate MA Mandated Reporter information sessions for teacher candidates. Assist with the development of institutional self-study reports relating to field placement including, but not limited to, reports requested by the Board of Higher Education, AACTE , USDOE and MA DESE . Assist with the collection of data for the compilation of the annual Title II federal report, AACTE PEDs and the annual MA DOE institutional reports ( SAR ). In collaboration with the Educator Licensure Officer will review and coordinate the revision of electronic handbooks, applications, forms and other supporting documents for teacher candidates, program supervisors, and supervising practitioners. Maintain, review, and update the CEHS SharePoint Licensure and Field Experiences webpages. Serve as first contact with at risk students, collaborating with Educator Licensure Officer, associate dean and professional program staff. Maintain established PreK-12 partnerships and cultivate new partnerships for practicum placement. Required Qualifications: Applicants must have at least (A) three years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, experience in office management, office administration, business administration or business management, the major duties of which included one or more of the following functions: purchasing, personnel management, budgeting, accounting, records management, work simplification, grants management, contract administration or program management, or (B) any equivalent combination of the required experience and the substitutions listed below: I. An Associate's or higher degree with a major in business administration, business management or public administration may be substituted for a maximum of two years of the required experience. II. An Associate's or higher degree with a major other than in business administration, business management or public administration may be substituted for a maximum of one year of the required experience. Ability to communicate effectively in oral expression. Ability to prepare and use charts, graphs, and tables. Knowledge of the types and uses of general office equipment. Ability to deal tactfully with others. Ability to exercise sound judgment. Knowledge of the principles, practices and techniques of supervision . Ability to understand, explain and apply the laws, rules, regulations, policies, procedures, specifications, standards and guidelines governing assigned unit activities. Ability to analyze and determine the applicability of data, to draw conclusions and to make appropriate recommendations. Ability to follow written and oral instructions. Ability to gather information through questioning individuals and by examining records and documents. Ability to write concisely, to express thoughts clearly and to develop ideas in logical sequence. Ability to assemble items of information in accordance with established procedures. Ability to determine proper format and procedure for assembling items of information. Ability to maintain accurate records. Ability to establish rapport and maintain harmonious working relationships with persons from varied ethnic, cultural and/or economic backgrounds.
