Ngā kōrero mō te tūranga – About the role
This varied and fast-paced administrative role supports the wider operations of Te Kura Whatu Oho Mauri School of Psychological and Social Sciences, while also providing dedicated support to Te Puna Haumaru the Centre for Security and Crime Science. You will work closely with the School Manager, Centre Director, academic staff, and students to ensure the smooth delivery of teaching, research, and engagement activities.
The role sits within a collaborative administrative team and involves a wide range of responsibilities. These include providing high-level administrative support, coordinating meetings and events (including the Centre’s seminar series), managing communications, assisting with financial processes, arranging travel, preparing employment contracts, and supporting academic programme administration such as examinations, timetabling, and postgraduate processes.
This is a part-time (18.75 hours per week), 12-month fixed-term opportunity, providing cover during a period of parental leave. There is some flexibility in how these hours may be arranged, by agreement. Salary will be in the range of $71,275 to $87,024 per annum (pro-rated), depending on the qualifications, skills and experience you bring to the role.

You bring strong communication and interpersonal skills, enabling you to work effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders, both independently and as part of a team.
You are proactive, detail-oriented, and committed to delivering high-quality service. You also have strong digital capability, with experience using Microsoft Office and confidence working with administrative systems, databases, and financial processes. Experience in a tertiary education or similar environment would be advantageous.
