We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Admission and Enrollment Officer to join our team. This role is central to ensuring the integrity and accuracy of our admissions process. The successful candidate will be responsible for expertly evaluating academic credentials from a wide range of domestic and international institutions. Key responsibilities include verifying the authenticity of academic documents using specialized software tools, determining credential equivalency, and interpreting transcripts with precision.

As a vital member of the Admissions team, the Admission and Enrollment officer will also assess applicants' academic preparedness, respond to inquiries, and provide data-driven insights to support strategic enrollment decisions. Additionally, the role contributes to the development and refinement of admissions communications and workflows. The ideal candidate will bring a deep understanding of global education systems, exceptional analytical abilities, meticulous attention to detail, and a strong commitment to upholding academic standards.

Responsibilities:

As Admission and Enrollment Officer at CMU-Africa, you will play a critical role in ensuring the integrity and effectiveness of the admissions process. You will regularly handle sensitive academic information and are expected to maintain strict confidentiality and professional discretion. While specific responsibilities may vary, they will include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Credential Evaluation & Verification: Conduct comprehensive evaluations of academic transcripts, diplomas, and other academic documents to verify authenticity, determine institutional accreditation, and ascertain degree equivalency. Analyze complex educational histories and identify potential fraud.
  • Application & Enrollment Management: Review and process applications for admission, ensuring accuracy and fairness while adhering to graduate admissions criteria. Manage registration and enrollment tasks, maintaining accurate student records and databases.
  • Data Analysis & Strategic Input: Leverage data management and analysis skills to create user-friendly reports and dashboards. Extract and aggregate admissions data to identify trends, draw conclusions, and make recommendations to improve funnel conversion and yield rates.
  • Applicant Support & Communication: Serve as a primary point of contact for applicants, guiding them through the application process and responding to their inquiries. Provide expert input for admissions communication collateral and contribute to developing communication flow plans.
  • Collaboration & System Management: Work closely with academic departments and faculty, providing expert analysis on applicant qualifications. Accurately input and manage applicant data in the CRM and other systems while maintaining and utilizing credential evaluation resources and tools.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • A bachelor's degree in a relevant field is required (e.g. Higher Education Administration or Comparative & International Education, Business Administration or Public Administration, information Systems or Data Science, Educational Measurement, Evaluation, or Policy). A master's degree is preferred.
  • Proven experience of at least 3 years in higher education admissions, registration, or student services, focusing on transcript evaluation.
  • Experience in higher education or equivalent relevant experience in fast-paced environment
  • Fluency in English is required. Proficiency in French and/or other African languages is a plus.
  • In-depth knowledge of global educational systems, grading scales, and accreditation bodies, with familiarity with NACES guidelines.
  • A combination of education and relevant experience from which comparable knowledge is demonstrated may be considered

Skills and Competencies:

  • Proficiency in using admissions CRM systems (e.g., Slate, Salesforce) and Student Information Systems (SIS).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with high attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate complex information.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and Google Drive.
  • A commitment to maintaining a high standard of service and ethical practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a high-pressure environment with minimal supervision.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, ability to adapt quickly and prioritize tasks.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively and complementarily with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment, excellent discretion and maintain confidentiality.
  • Commitment to maintaining a high standard of service to applicants and ensuring accurate and timely communication.
  • Possess strong analytical and problem-solving skill sets with high-level attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated experience with recruitment, admissions, enrolment customer relations management system (CRM), and student services relational databases (e.g., SLATE, Salesforce, Banner, S3).
