- Cultivate relationships with students and parents,
school/college counselors, independent counselors, and
community-based organizations in recruitment territory.
- Review and holistically evaluate approximately 400-1000
applications for assigned territory. Also review and make
recommendations on applications for supplemental scholarship
opportunities.
- Plan and execute data-driven travel based on demographic
analyses, market research, and other admission data to high schools
and college fairs in assigned territory; 25-75+ high school visits,
5-25+ college fairs, 10-30+ days of travel, including overnight
travel.
- Counsel and guide students and parents on the admission and
financial aid process to support enrollment via phone, text,
interview, campus visit programs, etc.
- Coordinate or help facilitate off-campus events and meetings
for prospective/admitted students (including virtual).
- Regular and consistent communication with prospective (and
admitted) students and families, as well as high school counselors
and administrators, using a variety of methods and
strategies.
- Campus-Based & Other Responsibilities
- Assist with, and participate in, all admission events (Discover
Butler Preview Day, Open House, Butler Bound Weekend, etc.) and
daily visits. This also includes Office of Admission or
Division-wide events.
- Regularly present and facilitate in-person and virtual
Information Sessions and Admitted Student Visits. Serve as
Counselor of the Day (COD) 2-4 times per month.
- Serve as primary or secondary liaison to other academic or
student support offices.
- Serve on an appointed admission application review
committee.
- Attend meetings, educational conferences, and training
workshops.
- Serve as member of the regional professional association and
attend professional development conferences / opportunities when
available.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum 1-2 years college admission experience or other
professional experience in working with college bound
students.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills including
presentation skills.
- Excellent organizational skills – detail oriented.
- Experience in selective admission review processes.
- Strong teamwork skills for providing solutions.
- Flexibility in a changing environment.
- Willingness to work extra hours and/or weekends when
needed.
- Valid U.S. driver’s license.
- Individuals serve in a primarily on-campus role during the
regular work week with flexibility based on required travel and
approved work from home options that may include one to two days a
week depending on season/workload.
Preferred Qualifications :
- 3-4 years of college admission, college access/counseling, or
related experience.
- Experience in database management and/or manipulation
(knowledge of Slate or other Admission CRM is highly valued).
- Experience working in financial aid or strong knowledge base of
the financial aid process preferred
- Fluency in Spanish is a plus.
