Admissions Advisor

GENERAL JOB SUMMARY:
Under limited direction, the Admissions Advisor serves as an initial positive contact for prospective students to the College. Primary responsibilities include planning and scheduling recruitment activities and visiting high schools throughout Iowa and out-of-state, representing Kirkwood at college fairs, conducting campus visits and tours, making decisions regarding distribution of scholarship funds, and recommending strategies for recruitment on an ongoing basis. The advisor will be required to exercise discretion and independent judgment to perform the foregoing. Position includes extensive contact with students, parents and high school personnel. Travel will be required to high schools, college/high school fairs, and related recruiting activities.
The typical hours will be Monday through Friday from 8 am to 5 pm. Will be required to work some evening and/or weekend hours.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide prospective students and family members with information on the benefits of attending Kirkwood including information about academic programs, services, resources, and opportunities for involvement.
- Provide information about the application enrollment process, including: admissions, financial aid, assessment testing, and related college policies and processes.
- Schedule, visit and make multiple presentations at high schools throughout Iowa and possibly out-of-state.
- Assist prospective students and parents with on-campus visits and tours.
- Correspond when appropriate to prospective students by e-mail and phone for admissions follow-up.
- Assist with the college’s formal Campus Visit Day program.
- Represent Kirkwood at various other recruiting events.
- Assist with the college’s formal New Student Orientation & Registration program.
- Will participate, as requested, in special enrollment/recruiting related projects.
- Provide input and insights into the development of special recruiting communication tools.
- Regularly evaluate recruitment activities and make suggestions for changes and improvements.
- Evaluate prospective students for their eligibility and qualifications to receive scholarship funds.
- Distribute scholarship funds to recipients as determined by the advisor.
- Perform other related work duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES WITH/WITHOUT REASONABLE ACCOMMODATION:
Position involves working in an office setting. Occasional (10-33%) standing, pushing, pulling and grasping. Frequent (34-66%) reaching and viewing a computer and other types of close visual work. Constant (67-100%) sitting, walking, repetitive motion, talking and hearing.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, OR REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED:
- Must have valid driver’s license. This position requires a valid driver's license and participation in continuous Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) monitoring. Your driving record will be verified initially and monitored on an ongoing basis as a condition of employment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS, LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, OR REGISTRATIONS:
- Experience in student recruitment and campus visits in a college or university setting.
