Job Description

The J.D. Admissions Coordinator at Harvard Law School is responsible for a range of administrative and operational projects and processes. This role provides exceptional customer service in a team-based environment, with primary responsibility for front-line external inquiries.

Job-Specific Responsibilities

As an Admissions Coordinator you will:

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for prospective applicants, applicants, and incoming students on all aspects of the Program, with responsibility for walk-in, telephone and email inquiries
  • Process admissions applications and related materials, coordinating between the Admissions Assistant and applicants to complete and maintain comprehensive file management
  • Review applicant submissions and credentials, exercising discretion in determining eligibility, authenticity, and completeness, and communicating with applicants regarding same
  • Identify, review, and track required transcripts and college certification forms for matriculation, aligning all documentation with American Bar Association (ABA) requirements and standards
  • Assist in the preparation data for Law School, University, and government submission, with primary responsibility for GPA calculation and verification
  • Execute independent decision-making to determine eligibility for financial subsidies
  • Provide administrative support for fall recruitment travel, maintaining relationships with pre-law advisors across colleges and universities
  • Conduct basic file review to assist in admissions process
  • Assist with visa processing for incoming students
  • Assist with website management, including creation of original visual, audio, and text content to guide prospective students through the admissions process
  • Support J.D. Admissions staff members with administrative and office tasks as required

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

Minimum three years of relevant administrative, customer service and/or technology leaning support experience required.

Additional Qualifications and Skills

We are looking for people who have:

  • Effective written and oral communication skills and attention to detail
  • Experience managing complex processes in a technological environment
  • Strong data management and analytical skills, with experience in Microsoft Office suite, student databases, CRM systems, and/or Slate
  • Comfort working collaboratively with a team to manage a demanding workload
  • Strong customer service, interpersonal, and written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to handle complex, confidential information and materials

Additional Information

Standard Hours/Schedule: 35 hours per week. Full time, M-F. Requires availability for some overtime work during periods of need.

Work Format Details

This position has been determined by school or unit leaders that some of the duties and responsibilities can be effectively performed at a non-Harvard location. The work schedule and location will be set by the department at its discretion and based upon operational needs. When not working at a Harvard or Harvard-designated location, employees in hybrid positions must work in a Harvard registered state in compliance with the University’s Policy on Employment Outside of Massachusetts. Additional details will be discussed during the interview process. Certain visa types and funding sources may limit work location. Individuals must meet work location sponsorship requirements prior to employment.
