Admissions Counselor
Job Description
This posting is to establish a pool of applicants for vacancies within the department. Applications will be reviewed as vacancies arise, and candidates will be notified if their application is being considered.
The Admissions Counselor is an integral member of the student recruitment team. Specific duties include, but are not limited to: develop and facilitate on- and off-campus programs for first-year students; provide counseling on the admissions and enrollment process to prospective students and their parents; participate in recruitment activities and visits to Colorado high schools and select out-of-state high schools; maintain positive relationships with secondary school personnel; assist in making admission decisions for first-year students; recruit and assist transfer students with admission within primary territory; and assist in the development of communication plans and recruitment publications.
Primary Duties
New Student Recruitment
- Recruits new students to the University by participating in recruitment activities including visits to Colorado high schools and select out-of-state high schools as well as phone, email, text, and written outreach.
- Undertakes travel and territory planning --including use of data to make informed decisions-- for successful completion of targeted recruitment goals
- Works to create and maintain a positive working relationship with high school counselors, community college staff, students, families, and other organizations within assigned territories to facilitate new student recruitment.
Student Engagement
- Provides next-steps support to students and parents to move students through the recruitment funnel from inquiry > applicant > admitted > deposited > enrolled, to include in-person visits with targeted school and students, email, text, mail, and phone outreach, as well as correspondence with school counselors and staff to contact and get transcripts for students.
- Assists with the first-year student registration process, including working with PACK Center and moving students to enrolled by building first semester schedules.
University Engagement
- Attends all recruitment events held by the Office of Admissions at the University and outside of it. Represents the University actively by engaging with attendees and encouraging people to take steps to engage with CSU Pueblo. Events include, but are not limited to, Discover Days, group visits, transfer events, Welcome to the Pack nights, convocation, commencement, and others.
- Attends recruitment events held by outside organizations, including but not limited to NACAC, RMACAC, Colorado Council, CCCS, and others to recruit students to the University and develop professional contacts and skills.
Ancillary Duties
- Other duties as assigned. Serve on various committees and attend meetings.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university
- Valid unrestricted driver's license
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Willing to work evenings and weekends as needed
- Ability to lift and carry materials needed for recruiting purposes
- Experience working with varying populations
- Experience providing excellent follow-up and customer service
Preferred Qualifications
- Bilingual Spanish/English
- Experience in a position in sales, retail, recruitment, admissions, customer service
This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship
Salary: $50,000
