Admissions Team Leader
Why Your Role Matters
As an Admissions Team Leader, you’ll oversee the day-to-day operations of application and admissions processing across several UNSW faculties. You’ll lead, develop and support a team of up to eight Admissions Officers, ensuring high quality service, accurate assessments and smooth workflows throughout the admissions cycle.
This role reports to the Manager, Admissions Operations (Postgraduate). We have two fixed term opportunities, both replacing current employees: one until July 2028 and the other until September 2027.
Main Responsibilities (Summary)
- Lead, coach and develop a team of Admissions Officers, managing daily and peak-period workload within an environment that promotes respect, accountability, quality service and facilities, and fosters initiative and innovation.
- Ensure fair, consistent and transparent admissions decisions in line with University policy and external regulations.
- Guide staff to meet service level agreements for application processing and enquiries
- Assess applicant eligibility and oversee accurate, complete and up-to-date records
- Collaborate with faculties, Scholarships and other stakeholders to support smooth admissions operations
- Train staff, improve processes, and maintain clear documentation
- Manage escalated cases, fostering a culture of customer service excellence and ensure teams place the needs of potential students at the forefront.
- Contribute to the statistical reports and suggest continuous business improvements activities of the Admissions Office.
Who You Are
You bring strong leadership, excellent communication skills and a passion for delivering high quality service. You’ll also have:
- Demonstrated extensive experience in admissions
- Demonstrated ability to train, motivate and influence teams – previous leadership experience is highly regarded
- Experience working with diverse stakeholders across cultures
- Strong customer service focus with a proactive, solutions-oriented mindset
- High attention to detail and experience managing high volume workflows
- Advanced digital skills, including Microsoft suite, CRM and student management systems
- A positive, adaptable approach to change in a dynamic environment
