Recruit volunteer tutors for the Adult Volunteer Literacy Program of South Suburban College, coordinating marketing and recruitment efforts with outside agencies. Possess knowledge of adult learning theory, learning styles and strategies, creating a minimum of twelve hours of new training modules per year to train volunteer tutors. Works with community to establish new adult education & literacy partnerships in the community. Schedules ABE/ASE/ESL classes at local businesses in compliance with Secretary of States Grants. Submits required Secretary of State Literacy/Workplace Skills Enhancement Grant reports. Works with volunteer tutors to evaluate students abilities and pre and post-test assessments. Writes for Secretary of States Literacy & Workforce Skills Enhancement grants. Implements goals and procedural directives of the Adult Education Department, specifically implementing the directives of the yearly Secretary of States Literacy Grant proposals. Monitors student attendance and identifies patterns of non-attendance and assists in the development of retention strategies. Other duties as assigned by the Director of Adult Education. Typical Qualifications Associates Degree. Must have experience in grant writing. Process excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a strong background in English. Must be highly organized with a history of record keeping. Must successfully pass a criminal background check. Supplemental Information PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelors degree. STATUS/BENEFITS: This is a regular full-time Grant-funded position for 40 hours per week, 52 weeks per year. Continued employment is contingent upon receipt of grant funds. The annual salary comes with the following employee benefits: $15,100 Annual Flexible Health Benefit: • 15 Vacation, 12 Medical and 3 Personal Days Earned within First Year of Employment • 16 Holidays, 5 Winter break days, 4-Day Summer Workweek.
