Advanced Painting, Department of Education and Professional Studies - Adjunct Faculty
University of Maryland Global Campus (UMGC) seeks adjunct faculty to teach on-site at College Park, MD for the Art & Graphic Communications program. Specifically, we are seeking faculty for the following courses:
Painting (ARTT 320): Practice in the basic tools and vocabulary of painting. The goal is to apply an understanding of compositional strategies, visual principles, and basic materials and techniques to produce paintings using oil/watercolor/acrylic paints.
Advanced Painting (ARTT 428): Creation of original compositions based on the figure, nature, and still life, as well as expressive painting. The goal is to paint in a variety of styles and techniques, work with more complex forms (including drapery, transparency, and reflections), and work in landscape and/or figure in space painting. Emphasis is on the development of personal directions. May be repeated to a maximum of 12 credits.
Required Education and Experience:
- Master's degree in Fine Arts, Studio Arts, Graphic Arts, Visual Arts, or related field from an accredited institution of higher learning.
- Professional experience in Graphic Arts, or related field.
- Experience teaching adult learners online and in higher education is strongly preferred.
- Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and working knowledge of graphic design.
- This position is specific to teach on-site at College Park, MD.
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Terminal Degree from an accredited institution of higher learning.

Faculty Training at UMGC: Each new faculty member is required to successfully complete our online two-week new faculty orientation, FacDev 411, as a condition of hire.
Salary Commensurate with Experience. Adjunct faculty candidates will be required to provide official transcripts during the candidate selection process. All submissions should include a cover letter and resume.
