"Advanced Practice Nurse"

Rutgers The State University is seeking an Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) in the Acute Inpatient Services of Rutgers University Behavioral Healthcare. The primary purpose of the Advanced Practice Nurse position is to serve as an expert in the advanced nursing care. The APN functions collaboratively with physician of protocol for prescriptive practice and works collaboratively within the treatment team to provide diagnostic, therapeutic, and assessment services. The APN demonstrates competency according to the American Nurses Association Advanced Practice Standards and credentialing body.

Among the key duties of this position are the following:

• Demonstrates a commitment to maintain the standard of clinical practice adapted by the American Nurses Association and ensures that nursing care meets the standards of practice for specialty credentialling certification through the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners or American Nurses Credentialing Center.
• Engages in collaborative practice with the physician of protocol for prescriptive practice.
• Follows protocols for prescriptive practice.
• Coordinates treatment with members of the treatment team.
• Delivers high quality care as rated by supervisor, collaborating physician and individuals served feedback.

Minimum Education and Experience:

• Master's Degree in Nursing required.
• At least two (2) years of nursing experience required preferably as an Advanced Practice Nurse.

• Position requires standing to 2/3 of the time, walking to 2/3 of the time, requires sitting under 1/3 of the time, use of hands to finger, handle or feel to 2/3 of the time, reach with hands and arms, under 1/3 of the time, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl under 1/3 of the time, talk or hear over 2/3 of the time.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

• Moderate noise (examples: business office with computers and printers, light traffic).
• Subject to unpredictable situations,patient crises, both medical and psychiatric.
• Occasionally exposed to patients exhibiting assaultive behaviors.
• Exposure to bloodborne pathogens that requires use of personal protective equipment.
• May be exposed to varying or extreme temperatures.

Salary: $81.03 per hour
