Advanced Practice Provider (APP)/(PA/NP/APRN)/Medicine/Medical Oncology/Instructor of Clinical
Job Summary
Applications are sought for a 1.0 FTE full-time faculty clinical position with benefits Instructor of Clinical Practice/NP or PA, at UCHealth Anschutz in the Thoracic Oncology clinic. Candidates should have a strong professional background in Oncology and/or Hematology. The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) position is responsible for identifying, assessing, planning and coordinating services for oncology and hematology patients. The APP will be an active participant in clinical work seeing patients daily in Oncology clinics, as well as overseeing an anti-cancer intravenous infusion area. The APP will provide in-office and virtual/telephone support for patients and their families.
Key Responsibilities
- Manages the health care of patients at Anschutz.
- Performs a comprehensive health assessment, including health history, physical exams, preventive screening; identifies medical health risks and needs.
- Performs scheduled study-related visits, study screenings, and toxicity assessments of patients on phase I-III clinical trials.
- Formulates the appropriate differential diagnoses based on clinical evaluation.
- Orders and/or interprets diagnostic studies within scope of practice and clinical area of practice.
- Performs advanced technical procedures within the scope of clinical practice.
- Plans and implements therapeutic regimens that include both nursing and medical management strategies, including prescription of medications and devices.
- Establishes systematic follow-up for evaluation of the plan of care and reassesses and modifies the plan, as necessary.
- Closes charts within seven working days.
- Assures patient and family teaching is adequate to manage the illness or wellness plan at home.
- Facilitates patient participation and promotes engagement by providing information needed to make decisions and choices.
- Documents in the medical record according to policy/procedure.
Intermittent holiday, evening and weekend coverage of infusion center/urgent care/outpatient clinics and inpatients may be needed.
