Advanced Practice Provider of Clinical Practice (APP) (PA/NP/APRN)/Pediatrics/SCC-Outpatient
Job Summary:
The Special Care Clinic (SCC) serves as a medical home and consultative base for over 3,000 children in our region who are medically complex, in addition to their well siblings. The outpatient Advanced Practice Provider (physician assistant or nurse practitioner) of Clinical Practice will serve as a primary care provider for these patients. They will be responsible for managing their well visits, follow up visits, care coordination, chronic illness management, and treatment of minor and acute illness.
As a 1.0 cFTE, the clinical expectation is 6 clinic sessions/week, with an additional 1-2 clinics/month. Each clinic session is four hours in length and this equates to 294 sessions/year. Program leadership holds the right to determine when the admin session can be taken based on clinic need. This is a clinical position, involving clinical work in an outpatient setting, which can include teaching responsibilities for clinical trainees. The position primarily works daytime hours, Monday - Friday.
Key Responsibilities:
- Providing direct clinical care to patients in our region who are medically complex
- Engaging in teaching of trainees when needed
- Participating regularly in joint faculty/staff meetings
- Participating in the on-call rotation
- Participating in the provider of the day rotation
Work Location:
Onsite – this role is expected to work onsite and is located in Aurora, CO.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Physician Assistant (PA) or Nurse Practitioner license required (FNP or PNP)
- Clinical experience required as a PA, FNP or PNP
Preferred Qualifications:
- Clinical experience with children who have complex needs.
- Clinical experience in a pediatric outpatient environment.
- Clinical experience in a pediatric primary care location.
- Clinical experience in an academic setting.
