Offer Description
The project “Advanced studies of the sucrase-isomaltase gene (SI) toward a full characterization of molecular and clinical implications,” in which the researcher will be involved, aims to study genetic variants of the SI gene in relation to susceptibility to Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) and its clinical manifestations. This will be achieved using genomic (genotyping and NGS), bioinformatic, and computational analyses designed to predict the functional and/or regulatory effects of these variants on the enzyme's expression and/or disaccharidase activity—and, consequently, on disease risk and symptoms in IBS patients.
