Primary Purpose of the Organizational Unit
The College of Arts and Sciences Advising Center (CASA) provides comprehensive undergraduate advising to all first-year students majoring in the College of Arts and Sciences. CASA also supports transfer and readmitted students during the Winter and Summer advising periods.
Position Summary
The Advising Operations Coordinator serves as the first point of contact for the College of Arts and Sciences Advising (CASA) office, providing front-line support and assisting students, families, faculty, staff, and campus partners with questions, concerns, and advising-related needs. This position supports the Director and Associate Director by coordinating office communications regarding academic policies, procedures, and practices; providing timely and accurate assistance to students and making appropriate referrals to other University offices when needs fall outside CASA’s scope of services; creating and reviewing student reports and coordinating advisor assignments for students served by the CASA Advising Center; and assessing CASA student services while identifying and planning for changes in equipment, funding, space utilization, technology, and human resource support to enhance office operations and the student experience.

- Serves as the primary point of contact for the advising center, delivering a welcoming and student-centered experience by assisting students and families, answering questions, triaging concerns, providing accurate information and appropriate referrals, and ensuring students receive timely, responsive support throughout their academic journey.
- Monitors and manages the CASA shared email account and main phone line, responding to inquiries promptly and directing students, families, faculty, staff, and campus partners to the appropriate resources and services.

- Provides comprehensive administrative and operational support to the Director and Associate Director to ensure the efficient daily operation of the CASA Advising Center.
- Creates, reviews, and updates advisor assignment reports and coordinates advisor assignments for students served by the CASA Advising Center, ensuring accuracy and timely processing.
- Assists with scheduling meetings, coordinating events and office activities, maintaining office procedures, and supporting projects and initiatives that improve operational efficiency and enhance the overall student experience.

- Assesses advising services, develops and analyzes surveys, and researches and implements best practices to enhance advising operations and improve the student experience.
- Assists with budget planning, monitoring, purchasing, reconciliation, and financial reporting to ensure effective stewardship of departmental resources and compliance with university policies.
- Coordinates and supports human resource processes, including recruitment, hiring logistics, onboarding, personnel documentation, and other administrative functions.
- Evaluates and plans for equipment, technology, space utilization, funding, and other operational resource needs to support efficient office operations and high-quality student services.
