About This Opportunity

Ready to make a real impact? As an Advisor, Safer Communities, you’ll play a vital frontline role in supporting safe, respectful and inclusive environments across UQ. Acting as a trusted first point of contact, you’ll respond to disclosures of gender-based violence, behavioural risks and other concerns with empathy and professionalism.

You’ll work within a highly collaborative team to deliver trauma-informed, person-centred support during sensitive and complex situations helping ensure coordinated, timely responses that prioritise safety, wellbeing and dignity for our students and staff.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Demonstrated experience applying trauma-informed, culturally responsive and person-centred approaches.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage with empathy in sensitive situations.
  • Sound judgement and the ability to follow procedures and escalate matters appropriately.
  • Relevant qualifications or equivalent experience in psychology, social work, counselling, criminology or a related field.
  • A collaborative mindset and commitment to reflective practice and continuous professional development.

About You

  • A degree in a relevant discipline, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and work effectively with diverse stakeholders
  • Demonstrated judgement in applying policies, procedures and legislation, with the ability to adapt processes to meet outcomes
  • Experience coordinating programs, projects or initiatives, including planning, timelines and delivery
  • Highly organised, with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines in a service-focused environment
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret data and support decision-making
