The Undergraduate Admissions Advisor is responsible for planning and implementing a diversity recruitment program to meet Piedmont University’s enrollment goals. Reporting to the Director of Undergraduate Admissions, the advisor will be responsible for recruiting, admitting and enrolling a talented and diverse group of students. This position includes travel to areas where Piedmont has been successful in attracting qualified students as well as developing potential new markets. The position includes general admissions advisor duties, application review and decision making. The individual will make presentations to prospective families during scheduled campus visits, will assist with on-campus and off-campus events and will perform other duties as assigned by the director.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Establishes and administers programs for targeting recruitment and retention of students.
- Coordinates recruitment efforts and serves as primary point of contact.
- Provides career and academic counseling, planning, and advising to potential students.
- Participates in the development of student recruitment and retention plans, strategies, and written materials.
- Visits middle schools, high schools, and colleges, speaks to groups and individual students.
- Meets with school counselors to promote outreach activities.
- Arranges visits from prospective students and parents.
- Manages a territory and caseloads of over 500 applications annually.
- Creates and distributes resource materials for student recruitment and retention programs; analyzes trends in recruitment and retention programs.
- Other relevant duties as assigned.
- Regular and predictable attendance is required.
- On-site work is required.
- Incumbents must remain relevant in the area of employment and flexible to changes in work related to institutional needs.
Typical Qualifications
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in related field required. Demonstrated student recruitment experience preferred. Experience with Colleague and CRM desired.
Licenses and Certification
Valid Georgia Driver’s License (or obtained within 30 days of hire date) and satisfactory MVR.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Ellucian experience preferred, Salesforce/Target X experience preferred; Graphics and design experience helpful
- Ability to develop and deliver presentations.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Knowledge of programs/services available to university students.
- Ability to process computer data and to format and generate reports.
- Knowledge of community outreach practices.
- Knowledge of customer service standards and procedures.
- Knowledge of student recruitment and retention issues.
- Ability to interpret, adapt, and apply guidelines and procedures.
- Ability to investigate and analyze information, data and draw conclusions.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
- Ability to evaluate student transcripts and/or records
- Ability to collaboratively and effectively work in a diverse and inclusive environment.

Environmental, Physical, and Visual Acuity Factors
Essential functions and responsibilities of this position are performed in an inside environmental condition, where there is protection from weather conditions but not necessarily temperature changes. Essential functions and responsibilities require light work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for Sedentary Work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for Light Work. Essential functions and responsibilities require incumbents to: climb or ascend and descend stairs or ramps using feet and legs; stoop by bending the body downward and forward by bending the spine at the waist; kneel by bending legs to come to rest on knee or knees; crouch by bending the body downward and forward by bending leg and spine; reach or extend hands and arms in any direction; stand by remaining upright on the feet; walk or move about on foot to accomplish tasks; lift by raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position-to-position; finger, grasp, or feel objects; talk to exchange and express ideas; and to hear to perceive the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels. Incumbents must have close visual acuity to perform activities such as extensive reading and operate computers and other office equipment.
