Job Summary
The Spooner Agricultural Research Station is part of the University of Wisconsin-Madison Agricultural Research Stations. The Spooner Agricultural Research Station is the northernmost station and specializes in Agronomy and Horticulture crop production research.
The Agricultural Equipment Operator II position operates, cleans, and repairs basic and complex agricultural machines and equipment to ensure safety and operable functionality and to adhere to established rules, policies, and regulations. This position also stages equipment and machines in preparation of agricultural activities.
Applies pesticides in accordance with best practices and established rules, policies, and regulations. This position also maintains organization of designated facilities and associated supplies, notifies appropriate entities of damaged materials or the need for supply replenishment.
This position will have a full year FTE of 87.5%. (3 months of winter will be at 50% FTE and the other 9 months of the year will be at 100% FTE)

- Operates, cleans, and repairs basic and complex agricultural machines and equipment to ensure safety and operable functionality and to adhere to established rules, policies, and regulations
- Documents completion of duties according to established policies and procedures
- Applies pesticides in accordance with best practices and established rules, policies, and regulations

Compensation
The anticipated salary range for this position is $24.00 - $27.00. However, final salary will depend on experience and qualifications. Required Qualifications
- Experience operating and maintaining agricultural machinery (e.g., tractors, manure tankers, pesticide sprayers, front-end loaders, skid steers), in an agricultural or similar research settings with quality and documentation standards.
- Experience in facility and grounds maintenance and general repairs
- Experience with using trucks to transport equipment, materials, or supplies.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word or similar software, i.e. ability to enter information into existing documents or computer programs.
- Valid Driver’s License and meet UW Risk Management Standards for vehicle operation
- Current possession or have the ability to attain a commercial pesticide applicators license within 6 months of hire
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience operating and maintaining agricultural field crop sprayers and pesticide mixing/loading equipment.
- Experience conducting crop research, including field trials, data collection, and adherence to research protocols
- Possession of a Commercial Applicator’s License
