Offer Description
The University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU) is looking for a postdoctoral researcher to co-develop a European Postdoctoral Fellowship application (Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions) on AI-assisted mentoring and assessment for Challenge-Based Learning (CBL) projects addressing real sustainability challenges. The successful candidate will design an AI mentoring assistant, validate it in real classrooms in the Basque Country, and adapt/validate it during a secondment at Universidad de La Laguna…
(Canary Islands), working on insular sustainability challenges such as water management, circular economy and biodiversity.
What we offer
- A 24-month, fully EU-funded postdoctoral fellowship (MSCA unit costs: living, mobility and family allowances plus research, training and networking costs).
- Supervision by an active research group in educational innovation and CBL at UPV/EHU, connected to a wider European network of partner institutions (additional consortium partners currently being confirmed) through the parallel Erasmus+ project ARIA.
- A structured secondment (approx. 6 months) at Universidad de La Laguna to work on a contrasting, insular sustainability context.
- Support for the application itself: the host group will co-write the proposal with the selected candidate ahead of the September 2026 deadline.
Profile sought
- PhD in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Educational Technology, or a closely related field, completed or about to be completed.
- Experience with machine learning / natural language processing; interest in applying it to education is a strong plus.
- Fluent written and spoken English; Spanish is an asset but not required.
- Eligibility (MSCA mobility rule): candidates must NOT have resided or carried out their main activity in Spain for more than 12 of the 36 months immediately before the call deadline (9 September 2026).
